To be eligible for student financial aid, you must meet Satisfactory Academic
Progress (
SAP) standards. The Office of Student Financial Aid (
OSFA) has established
guidelines (based on federal regulations) for evaluating your progress, taking into
consideration both your cumulative
KU GPA and the number of hours that you have
attempted since you've been in school. The
OSFA's standards of
SAP are not exactly
the same as the academic standards of the University or of any department or
professional school. Please see our full policy in PDF format here:

Policy Highlights
GPA: You must
maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative KU
GPA to meet
SAP guidelines.
Completion percentage: You must successfully complete a minimum
of 75% of your cumulative attempted hours. You are only eligible for aid during
your first 186 attempted hours for your first 4-year degree, and 245 hours in a
designated 5-year program.
Attempted hours: Attempted hours include all hours enrolled in,
on, or after the first day of classes.
Hours completed include all hours that count towards graduation.
Grades of F, I, NC, or hours dropped or withdrawn will be evaluated as courses
attempted, although not successfully completed. Repeated courses will count
towards academic progress as indicated in the University of Kansaas Undergraduate
Catalog.
Transfer credits: All hours taken at other institutions count
as attempted. Only hours that are accepted for KU credit count as completed.
